Five years after the events in the first
film, the members of the Ghostbusters have found other jobs. They not
only were never paid for eliminating the ghostly threat five years before,
they have been sued for the damages done by the ghosts and served with
a court order not to practice "ghostbusting". However when Dana Barrett,
who is trying to move on with her life and her new baby after her husband
left for Europe, begins to be bothered by the supernatural again she asks
one of the former members of the ghostbusters for help. They discover a
massive river of ectoplasm underneath the city which is feeding off the
negative emotions of New York. This gets them back in court for violating
a court order, and digging a large hole in the street. But when two ghosts
arrive in the court room the judge changes his mind and the Ghostbusters
are back in business just in time to fight an ancient tyrant who is preparing
a return to the Earthly domain through his portrait at the Manhattan Museum
of Art. He has set his sights on Dana Barrett's baby as the new home for
his wicked soul!
While not quite living up the the first
movie, this is still a good movie. There are some sub-plots which include
a romance between Annie Potts' Janine and Rick Moranis' Louis. The shaky
romance between Peter and Dana is also still present.
