I am not normally a big fan of Woody Allen movies or of musicals, but Woody Allen did an excellent job on this one.
 With the exception of Lukas Haas' character Scott, this movie is about relationships. And even the part about Scott is, to some extent, a story about relationships. His relationship with the Young Republicans and with his Democrat family. To try to tell of all the relationships would be to tell the whole story, but I will try to give a quick overview. Bob and Steffi have been married to each other for many years. They are still good friends with Joe, Steffi's first husband and father of DJ who lives eleven months of the year with Bob and Steffi in New York and one month with Joe in Europe. Joe has just broken up with someone else and DJ tries to help him get together with someone new whom she knows a lot about because she eavesdrops on the woman's sessions with her psychiatrist. Skylar, the oldest daughter of Bob, is engaged for a while to Holden, a young lawyer with Bob's law firm, but leaves him for someone else, then leaves the second man so Holden proposes again. The two younger girls are both after the same boy, and DJ falls for about three boys during the movie. The relationships are very complicated overall, but the movie plays them with a great deal of comedy.
